Perusing my newsfeed on this blog, I ran into an article of the LA Times reporting on a third SEIU officer to step down amidst a raging controversy of alleged intertwined interests. While I read that, I couldn’t help shaking my head at what looks like an uncontrollable lust for raw power and absolute discretion to roll around in someone else’s money – namely the union members’. Sad. Especially sad in the case of a union. What next, are they involved in political shenanigans, too?

Oh wait.

Turns out, the SEIU did become heavily involved with the campaign of the current “Democratic” candidate. On Valentine’s day, after John Edwards had dropped out, they announced their support – just days before Super Tuesday, but that was OK, because…

The S.E.I.U.’s California state chapter endorsed Mr. Obama on the Friday before the Super Tuesday primary, but Mrs. Clinton won that state. S.E.I.U. officials said they did not have enough time to muster a full-throated campaign on Mr. Obama’s behalf, saying that if they had several weeks they could have helped move many Hispanic voters to back Mr. Obama. The S.E.I.U. has been growing rapidly in Texas, having organized 5,300 janitors in Houston over the past two years.

Texas, wasn’t that were just a couple of weeks later there were such immense troubles and inexplicable discrepancies between the primaries and caucuses celebrated in that (at best) bizarre “Texas 2-step” phase on the same day which therefore in theory shouldn’t show too many discrepancies and, as we all know, caucuses are such wonderfully representative events, right? Well… Almost.

Funny, it almost reminds me of what went on here in Nevada, in mid-January.

Now, I’m totally lost as to why on Earth I’m having these weird three unrelated words drifting through my head: a place, an adjective and a plural noun… “Chicago style politics“. Beats me why that is. I mean, the Windy City isn’t even close to Texas or Nevada. Then again it is fairly close to Iowa

Strange huh. Any suggestions?
