Alaska and the rest of the world

Curious. I just perused the page with ‘world news‘ over at The New York Times’ and apparently, Alaska is somewhere out there on its own, more or less. To wit, this screen shot (click to enlarge):
And so it comes to pass that it’s Palin’s World after all…
(In that same vein: note the article focusing on the published conclusions of a study by the Brennan Center, concerning their recommendation of improving the availability of court interpreters in State Civil Courts. In that case, perhaps, the rationale was that most of the beneficiaries of such increased availability come from yonder side of the border… Strange that it was put into the World section, still.)
Added later: I just saw that The Washington Post also seems somewhat geographically challenged on its ‘World’ news page – see the screen snap shown here, which in its European news section features news articles on such European countries as Honduras, Iran, Iran and… Iran again (click to enlarge):
