Meet French Justice Minister Rachida Dati:

Don’t tell me French President Nicolas Sarkozy doesn’t know how to pick ‘em! Anyhoo: it’s been making the rounds lately that Ms. Dati is pregnant. Not that that’s too unusual; it’s the identity of the father that is subject of a lot of speculation. Now, according to Moroccan L’Observateur it’s this guy:

This is a quick translation of the first paragraph of that article of L’Observateur:
Rachida Dati, the French Justice Minister, is – as has been known for some time – pregnant. But that’s it. Nothing about the identity of the father. The mystery has finally been solved; the father has been identified and it’s a big, big surprise. It’s not a Moroccan, nor even a Frenchman. It’s a Spaniard. And, until just a few years ago, he was his country’s government leader, before [current Prime Minister, José Luis Rodríguez] Zapatero. Reliable sources attribute the paternity of the child the French minister will give birth to, to him.
I wouldn’t be too surprised[1] if this turned out to be true, given Mr. Aznar’s penchant for screwing over Lady Justice…
Besides, who says the European Union doesn’t work?
H/T to Iván who saw it first
Notas:
- Added much later: apparently, Aznar’s “think tank” foundation FAES has issued a statement on his behalf, categorically denying this report and qualifying it as “a total and complete falsehood”, according to Spanish newspaper El País. [↩]
