Spain for McCain!

Edited to add: as they’ve uploaded photos of the event to their Flickr page, I’ve substituted the original picture, below, for a slideshow of their photos. Also: maybe the Spain for McCain group could offer some assistance to the cognitively challenged souls who appear to get lost in the translation snafu of McCain’s interview with Caracol Radio.

I love it. Undisturbed by the tremendous wave of hardly veiled media praise - if not openly lavishing adulation - for the Democratic candidate that also swept Spanish media off their feet, along with the bulk of otherwise “serious” media elsewhere throughout Europe, here’s this enthusiastic and determined group^a of hardcore McCain backers, under the cheeky and bold name Spain for McCain, that fearlessly steps into the lion’s den to show their support for their guy, right at the emblematic Alcalá gate in Madrid:

(Added later: apparently they offered an opportunity to have a picture taken next to John McCain, with the Alcalá gate in the background - that’s what that cardboard figure was for.)

Understandably, this public event featuring support for the Republican ticket piqued the curiosity at quite a few news desks, dispatching reporters to the scene to find out more about this bold show of support for the other candidate. They’re getting a nice amount of attention out of this. Apparently, according to the reports, some 9/11 conspiracy, anti-Bush, and generally anti-American imperialist yankee pigdog protesting nuts decided to ride coattails on the occasion, but all-around major fun was had, nonetheless.

I suspect Governor Palin’s kickass speech was a welcome boon, too, adding some welcome media momentum for the occasion to get more positive traction, as well.

This Puma roaringly approves! Go get ‘em, tigers.
